Promotion of Health and Productivity Management
The HOYA Group promotes health and productivity management throughout the organization, positioning the maintenance and improvement of employee health as an investment in our people and business. We are implementing measures such as health checkups, consultation services, and mental health support with the aim of creating an environment where each and every employee can work in good physical and mental health.
In addition, through the CEO's Health Management Declaration and his seven articles that HOYA Group employees are required to follow (in Japanese only), we clarify senior management’s strong commitment and recognize employee health as an important factor in enhancing corporate value. To support these efforts, the departments responsible for environment, occupational safety, and health take the lead in operating a global management system based on ISO 45001 and ensuring its effective implementation at each site. Furthermore, under the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry’s Health and Productivity Management Outstanding Organizations Recognition Program, the HOYA Group has continuously been certified as a Health and Productivity Management Outstanding Organization (Large Enterprise Category).
In Japan, we are promoting the utilization of paid leave by establishing designated days to encourage employees to take annual paid leave, while regularly monitoring paid leave utilization rates. We are also working to reduce overtime hours through operational efficiency improvements and continuous monitoring, thereby curbing excessive working hours and promoting appropriate labor management. Furthermore, we are working to enhance work-life balance and improve employee well-being through initiatives such as promoting flexible workstyles.
As part of our initiatives to encourage employees to develop exercise habits, we conduct walking events using smartphone apps and promote employee health improvement through step-count rankings. This initiative serves not only as a health measure but also as a social contribution activity, combining tree-planting activities based on the total number of steps taken by employees. In addition to raising health awareness, this initiative helps increase employees’ interest in and understanding of environmental and social issues.
In FY2025, through a partnership with the Japan International Forestry Promotion and Cooperation Center, we supported tree-planting activities in Kenya, contributing to forest restoration and the development of local communities.
Going forward, we will continue to promote health and productivity management throughout the Group with the aim of achieving both the maintenance and improvement of employee health and the sustainable growth of the Group.
Infectious Disease Measures
Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, the HOYA Group established the Guidelines on Countermeasures Against New Strains of Influenza and Other Infectious Diseases in preparation for potential pandemics of emerging infectious diseases such as novel influenza. We have been proactively implementing measures to address the risks associated with emerging infectious diseases.
These guidelines establish a framework that includes the formation of the HOYA Group Influenza/Epidemic Risk Management Team, the development of business continuity plans, and the establishment of information-gathering, communication, and sharing channels. In addition, with the safety of employees, their families, and other related parties as our top priority, we have put systems in place to minimize health impacts while ensuring the stable supply of products.
